3. EU DIGITAL SERVICES ACT 2023 TO CONSIDER. ?
The European Parliament has recently passed the EU Digital Services Act 2023 which comes into effect in February 2024.
The law will apply to any digital operation serving the EU, forcing them to be legally accountable for fake news, manipulation of shoppers, criminal activity including child abuse & others.
The new rules are themed around 5 key issues, including online disinformation and other societal risks. These include:
- Illegal products.
- Illegal content.
- Protection of children.
- Racial & gender diversity.
- Ban on ‘dark patterns’.
