When facing a looming workforce shortage, @CVS Caremark transformed this challenge into an opportunity. Instead of focusing on the younger generation, they highlighted the value of mature employees.

CVS Caremark featured its mature employees, showcasing real-life transitions, challenges, and victories.

They launched programs to recruit, train, and retain this demographic.

The PR strategy was reinforced with data AARP & the Boston College Center on Aging & Work, lending weight to the campaign.

The positive outcomes include:

• In just 1 year (2006), the campaign generated 38 articles & over 36 million media impressions. And over 2 years – about 200 million impressions.

• CVS was positioned as an industry leader in workforce development, solidifying its reputation as an innovative, responsible employer.

• CVS’s mature worker program grew from fewer than 300 employees to over 1,000 in 2006.

5. Career management & internal mobility. 66% of HR leaders agree career paths within their organizations are not compelling for many employees.
