3.AN APPROACH TO ADOPT: Rituals at work. ?

Affinity in a workplace positively impacts company culture and performance. It encourages organizational citizenship like embarking on extra tasks without being asked for or getting paid.

In her book Rituals Roadmap Erica Keswinwhen relies on a study which proves that when an employee has that sense of psychological safety, collaboration goes up by as much as 47% and productivity goes up by as much as 50%. This is what rituals give us.

How to create workplace rituals? Harvard Business School recommends taking the following 3 steps:

1. Observe. Watch from an outsider perspective what teams are up to, find norms and expand them into rituals or even bolster what’s already happening.

2. Keep it employee-driven. Encourage employees to create their own team rituals. What do they enjoy doing together?

3. Provide resources. If team members tend to do some activity together, an employer should provide money to venture out regularly as a group.
