@Surreal cereal ‘celebrity’ endorsement campaign became a hit and made waves in the marketing industry in 2023. They featured household names such as Serena Williams, Dwayne Johnson and Michael Jordan on their billboards, with one little catch – they weren’t the actual celebrities.
What is interesting about the campaign?
Ingenious use of names. The brand found the individuals who happened to share the names with famous personalities but were regular people & asked them to review their cereal. It created a buzz that was both cost-effective & incredibly engaging.
Social media buzz. This humorous approach resonated with the online audience – in 4 days, Surreal’s ‘celebs’ video commercial gained over 4,130 reactions, outperforming big-budget brands.
Alignment with the brand statement. The campaign was aligned with Surreal’s brand statement: ‘The world is serious enough. Why does breakfast have to be?’

4. DEI. Businesses that have leaders from diverse backgrounds saw a big increase in their earnings in 2023 – about 19% more.
