3.AN APPROACH TO ADOPT: Data-driven diversity. ?
Today a metrics-based approach to DEI is more than necessary. It can identify problems, establish baselines and measure progress. Without monitoring progress and measuring the current status, our DEI efforts will amount to shooting in the dark.
How to bring about a meaningful change?
HBR shares strategies to implement a metrics-based approach to diversity. The key of them include:
1. Choosing the right metrics. Besides outcome metrics, you need process metrics, which can pinpoint issues with hiring, evaluation, promotion and executive sponsorship.
2. Building a business case. It means persuading key stakeholders of your company that attention to DEI can help them succeed in their jobs.
3. Controlling expectations through careful messaging. The most effective one runs that a company is committed to unlocking the potential of its human capital.
4. Creating a DEI data protocol. Anyone with access to diversity metrics should know what is and isn’t permitted on this front, what information could or couldn’t be shared.
5. Creating a data-retention policy. Retain your data as long as necessary to identify problems and measure the effectiveness of specific DEI interventions.

How to create inclusion for real and for good?
