1.A BRAND TO FOLLOW: Who doesn’t love a good bedtime story from SAP? ?

With many exciting stories to tell, SAP keeps highlighting what makes the company a great place to work. It keeps explaining the aspects of a job and encouraging candidates, employees and customers to build breakthroughs together.

Based on a true story, a ‘What do you do at work?’ sequel has won the Single Use of Video Award at RAD Awards 2022. It was directed and edited by Eyal Alter, SAP Director, Editor & Producer.

WHY TO DO THIS?

? The campaign shifts from corporate speak to a personal conversation, thus, providing more emotional connection with talent.

? It gives candidates and employees a true reflection of your company EVP. According to Gartner, your company can reach 50% deeper into the labor market when candidates view an EVP as attractive.

? It aligns and enhances both your employer brand and customer brand.

2.ACTIVATIONS TO FOLLOW: Promoting equal pay with INDEED. ?

With inequity at all levels of employment, companies need to ensure they are treating workers fairly.

The World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law 2022 report states that in 86 countries women face some form of job restriction and 95 countries do not guarantee equal pay for equal work.

Indeed, India fosters gender equality and equal pay in the workplace and highlights its importance in an exciting campaign!

How to promote gender equality in the workplace? Indeed brings 9 solutions, some include:

1. Increasing diversity in hiring. Review your job descriptions and assess if your job requirements need to be altered to broaden the pool of applicants.

2. Reviewing equal pay laws. Identify areas of improvement in your business regarding equal pay for equal work and develop a policy relating to equal pay in your code of conduct.

3. Revising pay secrecy policies. Some companies publish pay brackets that outline the salary for each role along with the position requirements. It can help eliminate bias.

4. Promoting work-life balance. Companies offer employees to work from home part-time or full-time, offer parental leave for both mothers and fathers, etc.

5. Creating an open-minded atmosphere. Promote a culture where employees are appreciated for their talent and performance. This starts at the managerial level.

3.A STRATEGY TO ADOPT: Upskilling for the future of work. ?

The rollout of new technologies and the changing face of work require employees to keep learning all the time. The Gartner study found that 58% of the workforce will need new skills to do their current jobs successfully.

How to reskill and upskill your employees and make it a top strategic priority?

Capsim highlights 6 steps to upskill employees. The key ones embrace:

1. Getting overall upskilling infrastructure in place. Identify employee skill gaps, determine the success metrics and KPIs for your upskilling programs.

2. Identify the upskilling tools and methods to use. Like most L&D initiatives, you should use a combination of tools and methods.

3. Meet with employees to define their goals. Before starting your upskilling efforts, discuss with employees their future career goals and how the upskilling can help reach these goals.

4. Create upskilling plans for target employees. Your upskilling program should incorporate different types of training like classroom sessions, lunch-and-learns, one-on-one meetings with mentors, simulations, etc.

5. Rinse and repeat for all employees who require upskilling. Repeat the phase-one steps for all employees in the later phases of your program.

? Explore these steps in detail here. Why not to follow them and cultivate a culture of learning that is continuous, inclusive and digitally-enabled?

4. AN APPROACH TO FOLLOW: Leave the door open. ?

Leaving a company shouldn’t be considered as the end of the relationship with a former employee.

LinkedIn data shows that boomerangs accounted for 4.5% of all new hires among companies on the professional networking website in 2021.

HBR brings the 8 strategies to make it easier for boomerang employees to return to a company. The major ones include:

1. Destigmatize leaving an organization. Viewing it as a normal part of employee career progressions is the first step in leaving the door open for them to return one day.

2. Provide a great employee experience. Good talent managers view employees as consumers: if they don’t have a positive experience, they won’t even consider returning.

3. Create a good off-boarding experience. Employees with a positive exit experience are more likely to recommend a company to others.

4. Be explicit that the door is open. Plant a seed that the door is open if things don’t work out in their new job or after they gain further experience elsewhere.

5. Build a robust alumni program. Alumni programs can be powerful drivers of brand advocacy, business development and talent management.

? Dive deeper into these strategies. Why not to adopt them to make your company a more attractive workplace?
