2. TRENDS TO ADAPT YOUR STRATEGY: Belgium approves 4-day week and gives the right to ignore their bosses
The boundary between work and private life is becoming increasingly blurred. According to a recent Deloitte study, employees are working 3 more hours a day compared to prior the pandemic, and 80% of respondents ranked wellbeing as very important to their organization’s success.
Such constant demands can harm employee physical and mental health.
Belgium addresses this matter with a series of labour market reforms. Some of the changes are:
1. Employees will be able to choose a 4-day week.
2. Employees will have the right to turn off work devices and ignore work-related messages after office hours.
3. If a working week exceeds 38-hours, employees will be granted an additional day off compensating for longer work days.
4. Employees will be able to request variable work schedules.
